Gallery Tours
Self-guided and guided gallery tours are offered at the Conrad Weiser Homestead for educational groups. Tours examine a professionally designed orientation exhibit that explores Conrad Weiser and his world. Housed in three buildings, the exhibit tells the story of Weiser’s life, introduces modern visitors to the historic visitors to the site such as natives, military and political figures, and area settlers, shows a Weiser period room setting in the restored Weiser House, and explains early efforts to commemorate Weiser and the founding of the historic site. The exhibit is comprised of period artifacts, text panels, and colorful graphics. Text is written at the comprehension level of middle school-aged children. The 26-acre site allows ample room for recreation and picnics. Appointments are required for groups and an admission is charged.

Traveling Trunk
Using the hands-on activities, reproduction artifacts and clothing, books, cassette tapes and resources found in this traveling trunk, you and your students can explore the life of Conrad Weiser, and the times in which he lived. It serves as an excellent resource for a colonial life unit, and provides activities to enhance your study of early Pennsylvania history and Native Americans as well. While designed as a self-contained curriculum unit, nothing quite takes the place of an on site visit to the Conrad Weiser Homestead. If your schedule permits, we encourage you to combine classroom use of the trunk with a field trip to Conrad Weiser Homestead. The traveling trunk is housed at the Berks County Intermediate Unit. For information and availability contact Marie DeLong 610-987-8480.

Additional Programs
The site also offers other programs such as ‘Journey to Onondaga,’ a specialized interactive educational program that is offered on a limited basis, and hands on activities. Teachers are encouraged to call for specialized programs that they might be interested in.
Fee: $3.00 per student

The Grounds
The property is a 26-acre historic site and memorial park that offers the possibility of conducting biology units as well as team building activities. Use of the grounds is free but appointments are required.

Outreach
Conrad Weiser Homestead also sends its Museum Educator into the schools to conduct educational programs such as “Conrad Weiser and the French and Indian War” and “The Indian Trade.” The period costumed interpreter brings artifact reproductions to illustrate the stories. Please call for availability, price, and the possibility to customizing a program to suit your needs.
